The route

The route follows the quays through La Joliette and Arenc to the northern port and the cruise terminal.

Arriving at the Marseille cruise terminal

Your terminal

Most cruise ships dock at the Môle Léon Gourret terminal in the northern port. Your cruise line may use another terminal: check your travel documents and give the terminal and ship name when booking.

Luggage drop-off

Your driver drops you as close as possible to baggage check-in, suitcases included.

Boarding times

Respect the boarding slot given by your cruise line: on busy days, access to the port is congested.

Station to cruise terminal: train and ship on the same day

Many cruise passengers arrive by TGV on embarkation day. The cruise terminal at Môle Léon-Gourret is in the port zone north of La Joliette, with no convenient public transport to the quay.

The driver meets you off the train, loads the cases and drops you at your cruise line’s terminal, usually in under twenty minutes. Give the ship’s name when booking.

Arriving by train on embarkation day

Taking the TGV in the morning and boarding in the afternoon is common for Mediterranean cruises. From Saint-Charles, the port is about fifteen minutes away: the driver follows La Joliette and the Arenc quays to the terminal printed on your cruise ticket. There is no direct shuttle at all hours between the station and the terminals, and suitcases make the metro and bus impractical.

Plan to be at the terminal at least two hours before the ship sails: security, photos and luggage drop take time on days when several liners leave together. Traffic around the port is heavier on embarkation days, so the driver builds a margin into the pick-up time; the price stays the same even if the journey takes longer.

The northern port terminals

Marseille’s cruise port has several berths, from the Cap Janet terminal to the L’Estaque quays. A ship carrying more than 5,000 passengers does not dock where a small coastal cruise vessel does. The terminal name is on your boarding pass: give it when booking and the driver drops you at the right entrance.

From the ship back to the station

Disembarkation is by groups, early in the morning. If your TGV leaves late morning, book with your disembarkation group number: the driver times the pick-up to your exit and drops you in front of the Saint-Charles concourse with a margin for the train.

If you arrive the day before, a night near the station or at La Joliette, ten minutes from the terminals, lets you board relaxed. The driver collects you at the hotel the next morning at the time you choose.
