Carry-le-Rouet from Saint-Charles: the Côte Bleue without changing
The Côte Bleue train line serves Carry, but trains are infrequent and the station is above the village. From Saint-Charles the driver takes the A55 and the L’Estaque viaduct, then the hill road down to the sea.
In February the Oursinade festival draws crowds to the harbour. In summer the coves around Cap Rousset are packed, and a drop-off at your rental saves hunting for a space.
Do you serve Ensuès-la-Redonne?
Yes. The La Redonne and Méjean calanques are on the way; tell us which one.
The Côte Bleue train, or the road
The Côte Bleue line is one of the most beautiful in France, running along the sea over viaducts and through tunnels between L’Estaque and Carry. For an outing it is ideal; with suitcases or for a rental in the hills, a private driver is more practical, taking the A55 and coming down to Carry via Ensuès with no change.
Carry-le-Rouet is also home to the Côte Bleue marine park, whose artificial reefs protect sea life; the diving clubs in the harbour offer introductory dives in summer.
The calanques of the Côte Bleue
Between Carry and Ensuès, the calanques of La Redonne, Les Figuières and Méjean shelter small fishing harbours and cabanons. They can be reached on foot by the customs officers’ path or by the Côte Bleue train, which stops at La Redonne. The restaurants of Méjean, by the water, are known for bouillabaisse and grilled fish, and the driver can drop you for dinner and collect you later at the daytime rate.
