Nostradamus and the Air Force Academy

Nostradamus lived in Salon and wrote his “Prophecies” here; his house is now a museum and his tomb lies in the collegiate church of Saint-Laurent. The Château de l’Empéri, one of the largest fortresses in Provence, houses a military history museum. The Air Force Academy on the base is home to the Patrouille de France, whose training flights can be seen over the town. The moss-covered fountain on Place Crousillat is Salon’s emblem, surrounded by cafés and the Wednesday market.
