The route

The route follows the A51 to Pertuis, then crosses the Luberon via Lourmarin and the D943.

Arriving in Bonnieux

Hilltop village

Lanes are narrow and steep: drop-off as close as possible to your accommodation.

Cedar forest and Pont Julien

The cedar forest and the Roman Pont Julien are close by.

Lacoste and Ménerbes

Neighbouring villages at the same rate.

Bonnieux: the terraced village of the Petit Luberon

Bonnieux climbs the northern slope of the Petit Luberon, between its upper church and terraces, looking across to Lacoste and Mont Ventoux. Guesthouses and farmhouses are often out in the countryside at the end of private lanes, so send us the name of the property, not just the village.

The driver takes the A51 to Pertuis and crosses the Luberon through the Combe de Lourmarin, about ten kilometres of winding road. If you suffer from car sickness, let us know and the driver will adapt.

Can you take us to the Cedar Forest or the Pont Julien?

Yes, as a stop on the way or a separate trip. The Roman bridge is below the village, on the plain.

Below the village, the Pont Julien, a Roman bridge with three arches over the Calavon, is one of the best preserved in France; it carried the Domitian Way between Italy and Spain. Nearby, the cedar forest planted on the Petit Luberon ridge in the 19th century offers a shaded walk with views of both sides of the massif.
