Sausset-les-Pins: the seafront promenade

Sausset-les-Pins is a small Côte Bleue resort with a harbour, a long seafront promenade and rocky coves. Its station, above the village, is on a scenic but infrequent train line.

From Marignane the driver goes via Châteauneuf-les-Martigues, the D9 and the coast road. No motorway: a short and steady trip, except on summer Sundays.

Are the corniche coves easy to reach?

Yes, the drop-off is on the corniche road, a few steps from the sea.

The Sausset corniche

The seafront promenade, small beaches and fishing harbour make Sausset-les-Pins a family resort. The coastal path runs to Carry in the east and Carro in the west, through coves and flat rocks where people swim. The Côte Bleue train stops at the top of the village but does not serve the airport; with luggage, the direct road via Châteauneuf-les-Martigues takes about 30 minutes.

Rentals and winter

Many rentals are in the hillside estates above the sea: give the exact address and the driver will drop you at the door. Out of season Sausset keeps a village life, and the winter sea urchin Sundays, as in Carry, bring crowds to the harbour.

A village by the sea

Sausset grew from a fishing village into a family resort without losing its scale: low houses, a single main street parallel to the sea and a small church facing the harbour. The Sunday market on the seafront and summer evenings on the corniche set the rhythm of the village, and the sunsets over the Gulf of Fos are among the finest on the coast.
