Lourmarin: Renaissance château and Friday market
Lourmarin sits at the foot of the southern Luberon, where the gorge road to Bonnieux begins. Visitors come for its Renaissance château, the cafés around the fountain and Albert Camus’s grave in the cemetery. On Friday mornings the market fills the centre and the streets are hard to reach until noon.
The route takes the A51 to Pertuis, then the Durance plain through Cadenet. It is one of the simplest Luberon routes, with few bends and tolls included.

Albert Camus lived in Lourmarin and is buried here; his grave in the small cemetery receives many visitors, as does that of the writer Henri Bosco. On Friday mornings Lourmarin holds one of the most popular markets in the Luberon, with growers, cheesemakers and craftspeople under the plane trees.
